David is a former Assistant State Attorney and DUI/Intoxilyzer Lead Attorney with the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office. As the lead DUI prosecutor, he received unique training and experience with the Intoxilyzer 8000, including instruction from the President of the manufacturer of the device which he now uses to aid in the defense of his clients. David is on the Board of Directors of the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD) and is a faculty member of the college. In this role, David teaches attorneys throughout the country to defend their clients in DUI cases. He is also the current Chairman of the DUI Board Certification Committee for the NCDD and is in charge of the entire Board Certification testing program. James began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in Escambia County and then Seminole County where he gained invaluable experience as a trial attorney. After leaving the State Attorney’s Office, James began his criminal defense career, using the training and skills he obtained from being a prosecutor to defend those charged with crimes. James’ background in science naturally lead him to focus his practice on DUI defense which involves scientific testing of breath, urine and blood samples. James is Board Certified in DUI Defense by the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD) and is a faculty member of the NCDD. He is a published author in the area of DUI, criminal defense, self-defense and 2nd Amendment. He has written multiple training manuals on DUI Defense and Criminal Trial strategy utilized by criminal defense attorneys throughout the nation. Mr. Phillips has also been the featured speaker in both state and national seminars where he has trained other attorneys on how to zealously represent those who have been arrested for DUI.
